The jars are double-walled. The inside is the same in all the jars. The outside is shaped plastically, is different in each jar, and hangs just about the table surface which makes the jar appear to float. Porcelain shrinks during heating (15%). With these jars the shrinkage that occurs during the heating process is manipulated in such a way that each individual jar is given a unique exterior. The final result is that the outside of each jar is randomly shaped. The inner shape remains the same.
The jars have been purchased by the Waterland Museum in Purmerend and by the Municipal Museum in Amsterdam
