MILAN DESIGN WEEK
" Ideally, I would like to design a new vase every day. I feel an infinite amount of freedom in merging a new form, a new color palette, and function of a vase. And although my vases can contain flowers, I see them primarily as objects. Each with its own visual language, color, and story. At home, they always stand empty because I rarely buy flowers. This led to the idea of designing a series of vases that are not just waiting for a bouquet of flowers. With the introduction of this series in a beautiful Palazzo in Milan, the series earned its Italian titel: Mazzo Blue Collection “
Mazzo stands for bouquet. The Mazzo Blues form a collection of three different ceramic vases. The contours of the neck of each vase are organically shaped and inspired by the graphic lines of flower petals. The series includes shapes with two, three, or four leaves. The latter vases each consist of two parts. The base is always a soberly designed vase in which a ceramic piece is placed. The organic shape of this piece is inspired by that of a flower calyx. This combination evokes the image of a richly filled vase. The hand-painted work reinforces this image. And for those who still enjoy buying flowers… the vases can still contain a full bouquet, which will be beautifully received by the ceramic calyx.
The vases in this series are available in solid colors, inspired by the colors of Delft painting. In addition, the vases are delivered with traditional hand-painted work. This seamlessly fits into the rich tradition of hand-painted Delft blue pottery, where flower patterns take a prominent place.
