1995 - One of the oldest designs in the collection is the Softlamp for Droog Design. It has proven to be a timeless design. In his search for forgotten techniques in the mid-1990s, Arian came into contact with a dip molder. During the process, a heated mold is dipped into a plastic liquid, resulting in a product. At that time, this technique was only used for technical components. The Softlamp was the first product to be made using this technique for the interior market. Thanks to its exceptionally glossy exterior, the lamp has a ceramic quality, yet it feels soft and supple to the touch. The lamp has a fluid appearance, just like the way it is created. The electrical cord seems to naturally flow into the socket and seamlessly blend into the lampshade itself. By using a specially developed dipping paste, it was possible to create a warm and colorful transparency.
The Softlamp has been included in the collections of various museums. Among others:
- New York Moma - US
- San Fransisco Moma - US
- Centraal Museum - NL
- Museum Boijmans van Beuningen - NL
