2000 - This wine cooler utilizes the moisture-absorbing ability of ceramic. When held under running water, the cooler absorbs the water and can then be placed over a bottle of wine. The evaporation of the water on the outside creates natural cooling on the inside of the cooler, following an ancient Roman principle. Increased warmth leads to faster evaporation, enhancing the cooler's effectiveness. The shape of the cooler is derived from a standard Bordeaux bottle form. Originally designed in white clay, it was later produced by Royal Tichelaar in Makkum in a terracotta version.
